Captivated

January 22, 23, & 25, 2020

Congratulations to the cast and crew of Captivated! The Osceola Theatre Arts Program was proud to have hosted the fifth year of our Junior-Senior show in the round. We were exceptionally thrilled to also make this show our first ever full length, student written play. Congratulations to author and director, Zoe Peters, on a fantastic production. This show was seen by over 200 attendees across three days and was extremely well received.

2019 District IV Thespian Festival

November 29 - December 1, 2019

​Congratulations to the almost 60 students who represented us at the District IV Thespian Festival this past weekend across the two day one-act festival and Saturday individual events festival.

Our festival one-act play, 26 Pebbles, was presented Friday morning on stage at SPC Clearwater. It received a Superior Rating and ranked in the top 5 one-acts placing as an alternate for the State Thespian Festival in March. Congratulations to Caitlin Rivera who received the All Star Cast Award for our one-act.

Our students presented 28 individual events during the IE's festival on Saturday receiving a cumulative 16 Superior and 9 Excellent Ratings. In addition, we received the following special accolades.

The Game's Afoot

November 7 - 9, 2019

This past weekend, the Osceola Fundamental High School Theatre Arts Program presented their fall mainstage play, The Game's Afoot OR Holmes for the Holidays by Ken Ludwig. This raucous satire pitted our student actors in a Sherlock Holmes style murder mystery for the ages. Thank you to everyone who came out to see this show and support our students. The Game's Afoot was screened by the Broadway Star of the Future program and received the following nominations:

2019 Florida State Thespian Festival

March 20 - 23, 2019

Congratulations to all of the students who participated in the Florida State Thespian Festival in Tampa this past week. This was a wonderful experience all around and we are so proud of each and every one of you that participated in the one-act, individual events, and attended workshops and master classes. We received the following accolades for our performances at the State Festival:

*Boesch & Co. - Ensemble Acting - Superior

*Julia Speyrer - Solo Musical - Superior

In addition, we received a superior rating on our festival one-act play, 26 Pebbles by Eric Ulloa. This is the first known time in our school's history of receiving a one-act superior at the state festival. Congratulations to everyone!

2019 Broadway Star of the Future Awards

Throughout this performance season, Osceola has had our two mainstage shows screened by the Broadway Star of the Future Awards Program. This program seeks to acknowledge high school theatre productions and their participants for exemplary performances in acting, tech, production, and direction.  The end of year awards ceremony was held June 2nd and we received the following honors:

Congratulations to the almost 80 students who represented us at the District IV Thespian Festival this past weekend across the two day one-act festival and Saturday individual events festival.

Our festival one-act play, The Yellow Boat, was presented Thursday morning on stage at SPC Clearwater. It received straight superior ratings from the adjudicators and we were ranked in the top four and have been invited to present our one-act at the State Festival in March. We were also honored to have received the following festival awards:

*All Star Cast Award - Benjamin Allen

*Outstanding Supporting Actress Award - Morgan Lindblom

*Outstanding Actor Award - Cameron Lemery

Our students presented 42 individual events during the IE's festival on Saturday receiving a cumulative 20 Superior and 18 Excellent Ratings. In addition, we received the following special accolades.

I Never Saw Another Butterfly

November 8 - 10, 2018

This past weekend, the Osceola Fundamental High School Theatre Arts Program presented its fall mainstage play, I Never Saw Another Butterfly by Celeste Raspanti. This powerful piece presented the true narratives of the children of Terezin concentration camp towards the tail end of World War II. Students spent rehearsal time studying historical sources to best portray these characters as accurately as possible.

I Never Saw Another Butterfly was screened by the Broadway Star of the Future program and received the following nominations:

*Outstanding Stage Manager - Clare Tullgren (WON)

Florida Theatre Conference

October 24 - 27, 2018

Congratulations to the 58 Osceola students who attended the Florida Theatre Conference in Gainesville, FL this past Wednesday through Saturday. It was a wonderful experience for all involved and our school was very well represented on stage and in college auditions and workshops.

Our one-act festival play, The Yellow Boat was adjudicated at 7:35pm on Thursday and went extremely well. The cast and crew received straight superior ratings from the adjudicators. In addition to this, Cameron Lemery received the All Star Cast Award for his portrayal of Benjamin, and our cast received the Judges' Special Award for Outstanding Ensemble.

We also had 10 juniors and seniors participate in college auditions with a cumulative 65 callbacks being earned by Osceola students.
